about us

United Way of the Wine Country is committed to playing The unique role of connector among businesses, funders, nonprofits, and our community.

For 55 years, United Way of the Wine Country has been dedicated to community grantmaking, advocacy, convening, and service. We proudly serve families and individuals living and working in Sonoma, Mendocino, Lake, Humboldt and Del Norte counties and remain deeply committed to improving family financial stability by serving as a vital link between residents, nonprofit organizations, businesses and government leaders. We recognize that racism, social injustice, and unfair economic systems create deep inequities in our community, impacting everyone. We also acknowledge our own past involvement in these systems and practices, and are committed to addressing and rectifying these issues. We now know that 25-30% of households in our region cannot make ends meet, and families of color are disproportionately represented among these households. In response, United Way and our mission are evolving to shift these paradigms.
