For over 40 years, United Way of the Wine Country has been working to create long-lasting changes in Sonoma, Mendocino and Lake counties. As of 2009, the counties of Humboldt and Del Norte have been included in our service area.
Our philosophy is simple: we are working to advance the common good by focusing on critical issues such as health, education and income. These are the building blocks for a good life - a quality education that leads to a stable job, enough income to support a family, and good health. Advancing the common good is less about helping one person at a time and more about creating a community dialogue to change systems to help all of us.
Through our community aspiration meetings we have identified the critical issues facing local people and are taking action by bringing together individuals, groups, ideas and resources to find real, lasting solutions. United Way couldn't achieve many of our successes without the valuable time and commitment of our many volunteers, including those who make the program funding decisions on how best to help the most vulnerable citizens in our counties.
We're committed to helping local:
We accomplish this by focusing our efforts on the above four focus areas as well as several programs and initiatives.
