The United Way system in Latin America has mobilized to respond to the catastrophic earthquake that hit Chile on February 27. United Way's local organization in Chile and other United Way members in the Latin American region have mobilized their staff, volunteers and resources in response, and will work together to determine the most pressing long-term recovery needs.

Long after the cameras have moved on to a new story, the people of Haiti will still be working to rebuild their lives and their communities.
United Way Worldwide members in the Caribbean region have mobilized their staff, volunteer leaders and resources in response to the needs in Haiti. They will act in an advisory role to determine the most pressing long-term recovery needs such as access to health care, rebuilding schools and housing, food and clothing.

Financial Donations
Financial donations are by far, the best way to assist the communities and people whose lives have been devastated by the earthquakes. Donate online through the United Way Worldwide Disaster Fund (choose Disaster Recovery/Rebuilding, Chile or Haiti), by phone at 1.866.404.5826, or by texting to 864833 (UNITED). A $5 donation will be made when the message says HAITI and a $10 donation when the message says CHILE . Checks may also be sent to United Way Worldwide, P.O. Box 630568, Baltimore, MD 21263-0568. Please make checks payable to United Way with "United Way Disaster Recovery Fund" and, if desired, should indicate Disaster Recovery and Rebuilidng, Chile or Haiti on the memo line.
Contributions to the United Way Worldwide Disaster Fund support recovery and long-term rebuilding needs of the devastated communities, as well as to meet the needs of those affected by the disaster who have relocated to the USA.
